With a parcel containing toiletries such as toothpaste, soap, deodorant and sanitary towels, Hangberg Dreams gave its clients a special Christmas treat this year, and we, Help Imizamo Yethu e.V., funded this Christmas campaign.
Hangberg Dreams NPC is a non-profit rehabilitation day centre in the Hangberg community in Hout Bay, Cape Town.
The organisation was founded to support people with substance use disorders, as the need for treatment and support has grown significantly across South Africa. In a safe and supportive environment, Hangberg Dreams helps those affected to discover their abilities, learn new skills and build a healthy, stable and structured life.
Hangberg Dreams offers treatment, support and resources to promote the well-being of individuals, families and communities.
Many residents of the Hangberg township work in the fishing and port sectors, but are severely affected by unemployment, social challenges and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. This makes access to therapy and counselling significantly more difficult, particularly for those without financial means.
Help Imizamo Yethu e.V. has been supporting Hangberg Dreams for several years now. We are impressed and moved by every single person who has managed to break free from addiction and is thus able to return to a normal life.
