We have donated new kits to the girls at the Hout Bay Pearls Netball Club.
We have been working with them for several years and usually fund transport to away matches.
The girls usually start when they are aged 12–14. For many, this is a difficult time as they enter puberty, and sport and the team provide the girls with a sense of stability. The older girls often take on a mentoring role for the younger ones.
It is a time when many young people fall into the wrong crowd or become victims of sexual abuse. This age is also often when they first experiment with drugs.
The availability of healthy alternative leisure activities is therefore important, and the Hout Bay Netball Club is one such option specifically for girls.
We are delighted that we were able to give the girls such a motivating gift before Christmas.
The season has now started again and everyone is working hard to win the title. 🏀🏆
