We supported Hangberg Dreams on an outing:
80 people who are currently actively working within the rehabilitation programme to overcome various addiction issues were invited on this outing to Sea Point Pool.
HBUFC – one of the local football clubs and also an organisation actively involved in the community – kindly provided their team bus for transport. Thank you very much for that!!
We took care of the shopping list and thus helped to ensure a successful day.
Social interaction in public spaces is an important part of therapy. Rehabilitation can only succeed if people are gradually reintroduced to ‘normal’ life from the sheltered environment of rehab. Outings like this are therefore a vital part of therapy. They encourage group interaction,
planning and carrying out tasks, and interacting in public spaces.
We are delighted that the day was such a success! 💚
Hangberg Dreams is an organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation of drug addicts in Hout Bay.
Drug use is a major problem in poor communities affected by high unemployment.
Not only are there direct consequences for the addicts themselves, but due to the high number of addicts, there are also significant indirect consequences for the community – drug-related crime, high levels of aggression and the neglect of children, which often leads to addiction in the second generation.
Hangberg Dreams works with people who want to break free from addiction.
We believe this organisation is doing a very important job that helps break the cycle of poverty for entire families.
We are therefore delighted, thanks to our donors, to be able to work with them! 🙏
