Dr Khabiso Ramphoma recently visited with a team from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of the Western Cape to offer free dental treatment.
Once again, everyone involved benefits – a win-win situation, so to speak:
The students gain first-hand insight into various clinical presentations and treatment methods, whilst the community receives a free service on their doorstep.
A total of 115 patients were treated by the doctors and students in a single day!
We supported the initiative by providing refreshments, not only for the hard-working team of doctors, but also for some patients to enjoy before and after their treatment.
The whole event was organised by Shelly. She is very involved in Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg – the two townships in Hout Bay. Her commitment lies mainly (but not exclusively) in the field of healthcare, and this initiative is a perfect example of how she manages to organise better services for the residents of these townships.
